A Swedish-inspired café and yoga studio called Yoghurt and Yoga has opened at 239 Miracle Mile in Coral Gables, combining frozen yogurt, Scandinavian treats and boutique fitness classes under one roof.

Known as YoYo, the business features a café in the front and a fitness studio in the back. The café serves frozen yogurt with a build-your-own toppings bar, matcha lattes, iced coffee and smoothies. Swedish specialties include cinnamon rolls and meatballs, according to a review published by CavsConnect, the student newspaper at Coral Gables Senior High School.

The studio offers yoga, Pilates and combination classes lasting up to 60 minutes.

Swedish family roots inspire Miracle Mile concept

Founder and owner Alice Jonsson drew inspiration from Fjällbacka, a coastal town in western Sweden where her family has roots.

Her parents, Elisabeth and Stefan, met on a flight to Miami about 35 years ago, according to YoYo's website. Miami became a second home for the family, and Jonsson eventually combined her Swedish heritage with her interest in wellness to create the business.

Coral Gables Mayor Vince Lago congratulated YoYo on its opening in an Oct. 12 post on X, describing it as a space that brings together movement, community and a Scandinavian-inspired café.

Eli Levin, a sophomore at Coral Gables Senior High who visited the studio, told CavsConnect that the layout surprised him.

"It was really cool how the front was a froyo shop, but through the back there was a whole yoga studio," Levin said.

Yoga memberships start at $99 with limited founding offer

Single classes cost $35, while a $49 introductory offer includes two classes.

YoYo also advertises limited founding memberships at $99 per month for four classes, $179 for eight classes and $199 for unlimited classes. Regular monthly rates are listed at $129, $249 and $299, respectively, according to the studio's website.

Jonsson also teaches classes at the studio. The business has promoted a "Froyo Fridays" concept combining fitness with frozen yogurt, although specific class times and promotional offers may change.

Opening joins frozen yogurt revival and retail growth

YoYo's arrival comes as frozen yogurt businesses gain renewed attention in Miami. New York-based chain 16 Handles has also announced plans for a Miracle Mile location at 270 Miracle Mile, according to Miami New Times.

The opening also coincides with increased commercial leasing activity in downtown Coral Gables.

Terranova Corp., a major Miracle Mile landlord, reported 17 new leases and one expansion totaling 96,791 square feet across properties on and around Miracle Mile and Alhambra Circle. The agreements represented more than $56 million in rent over their terms, according to the Coral Gables Gazette.

For customers, YoYo offers two ways to visit the same storefront: stopping in for frozen yogurt and coffee or attending a fitness class before exploring the café.
