Free admission, a cash bar, and a live DJ set will draw neighbors to the Coral Gables Museum on Friday, Aug. 7, when the monthly Gallery Night returns from 6 to 10 p.m. at 285 Aragon Ave.

Admission is free.

Miami-based DJ Kauze spins the evening's soundtrack while visitors browse four exhibitions and three outdoor sculptures. The museum encourages donations but charges nothing at the door.

Four exhibitions on view

The lineup includes two shows we covered when they opened in July:

  • Many Voices, One Nation: En Nuestras Palabras — a bilingual exhibition organized by the Allapattah Collaborative CDC in partnership with the Smithsonian, amplifying Caribbean and Latin American immigrant voices. On view through Sept. 6.
  • Local Leadership, National Legacy: Coral Gables Mayors Across a Century — portraits and biographies of all 25 mayors who shaped the City Beautiful over 100 years. This one closes Aug. 16, making the Aug. 7 Gallery Night one of the last chances to see it.
  • LA VIDA ES UN CARNAVAL — a sample of Colombia's Barranquilla Carnival, the country's largest cultural festival, brought to South Florida.
  • George Merrick's Vision / Creating the Dream — the museum's standing exhibition on the city's founder.

Sculptures by three international artists

Between galleries, visitors can discover three sculptures on the museum grounds:

Minna by Jaume Plensa, the Barcelona-born sculptor known for Chicago's Crown Fountain in Millennium Park. Plensa received Spain's Velázquez Prize for the Arts in 2013 and has work in the permanent collection at Pérez Art Museum Miami.

Rebuilding Motherland (2004) by Venezuelan sculptor Beatriz Kohn, a fiberglass and paint piece installed in the museum courtyard. Kohn's career spans more than six decades.

Untitled by Nicaraguan sculptor Ilse Ortiz de Manzanares, whose work explores geometry, spirituality, and transformation.

What to know before you go

The museum is housed in the historic 1939 WPA building, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Happy hour specials run throughout the evening alongside the cash bar.

No tickets or reservations are required. For questions, contact [email protected] or call (305) 603-8067.

Gallery Night returns the first Friday of every month. The next edition after Aug. 7 falls on Sept. 5, 6 to 10 p.m.
