Eight middle school musicians from Gulliver Preparatory School earned spots in the 2026 District 20 Honor Band, an ensemble of top private-school players from Miami-Dade County and the Upper Keys.
The students performed at the District 20 Honor Band concert Saturday, Oct. 24, at Coral Shores High School in Tavernier, according to a Gulliver Prep announcement. The concert brought together accomplished student musicians from private schools throughout Miami-Dade County and the Upper Keys for a joint performance.
The Florida Bandmasters Association's (FBA) District 20 covers private schools in Miami-Dade County and all schools in Monroe County, according to a 2019 Ransom Everglades description of the program.
The eight Gulliver students selected and their instruments:
- Lucca Bressiani, percussion
- Bruno Giorgetti, trombone
- Leo Goldstein, clarinet
- Emilie Lozano, flute
- Tomas Medel Concha, oboe
- Cati Reverte, baritone saxophone
- Kaiko Tarling, trombone
- Pedro Villa, alto saxophone
The group spans three class years at Gulliver. Goldstein, with an expected graduation year of 2031, is the most senior of the eight. Giorgetti, Reverte and Tarling are in the class of 2032. Bressiani, Lozano, Medel Concha and Villa are in the class of 2033.
Two of the eight play trombone. The remaining six cover percussion, clarinet, flute, oboe, baritone saxophone and alto saxophone.
Edgar Rubio, Gulliver's middle and lower school band director, leads the program that prepared the students. The school credited Rubio alongside the eight musicians in its announcement, calling the selections a reflection of the students' dedication and the opportunities available through Gulliver's performing arts program.
Rubio and the eight students traveled to Tavernier for the Oct. 24 concert at Coral Shores High School.
