Miami-Dade County Public Schools earned 160 Schools of Excellence designations for the 2025-26 school year, more than any other district in Florida.
The district announced the results on Tuesday, Oct. 27, after the State Board of Education approved the designations at its Oct. 14 meeting in Stuart. The 160 schools account for 21% of all Schools of Excellence statewide.
Among Florida's large urban districts, Miami-Dade holds the highest percentage of Schools of Excellence. The district's 160 designations more than double the 76 earned by Broward County Public Schools, the next-highest large district.
The designation is defined in Section 1003.631(1)(a), Florida Statutes. A school qualifies by scoring at or above the 80th percentile in its school grade calculation, compared with schools of similar grade configurations, for at least two of the last three school years.
The district's Oct. 27 release says it attached a list of the schools receiving the designation.
The State Board of Education's Oct. 14 agenda includes links to the full designation lists by school type. Families looking for their school can check those documents for elementary, middle, high and combination school lists.
