University of Miami defensive tackle Ahmad Moten Sr. landed a nomination for the 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, the organization announced Monday, July 20, recognizing the redshirt senior for his work off the field.
Moten logged 65 hours of community service during the fall semester with Branches After School, a Miami nonprofit founded in 1973 that partners with families to build educational and financial stability. Branches operates programs for elementary, middle and high school students and is the largest provider of free financial coaching services in Miami.
The 6-foot-3, 300-pound Fort Lauderdale native is one of 162 student-athletes nominated nationally. The ACC produced 16 nominees, second only to the Big Ten's 21, according to the AFCA's official release.
On the field, Moten is the Hurricanes' top returning interior lineman after edge rushers Rueben Bain Jr. and Akheem Mesidor departed for the NFL. He earned All-ACC Second Team honors in 2025 after starting 14 games and recording 31 tackles, nine tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. With Bain and Mesidor gone, Moten enters 2026 as Miami's most experienced interior defender.
He arrived as a three-star recruit in the 2022 class and redshirted his first year. He played in all 13 games in 2023 before breaking out as a full-time starter in 2024.
The final 22-player Good Works Team roster and one honorary head coach will be announced in September. One member of that final 22 will be named team captain and receive the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy, which honors exemplary community service and leadership.
Miami, coming off a program-record 13-win season that included three College Football Playoff victories and a national championship game appearance, opens the 2026 campaign Friday, Sept. 4, against Stanford at Stanford Stadium. Kickoff is set for 9 p.m. ET on ESPN.
