Forty-two South Miami businesses are offering prix-fixe menus and store discounts through Friday, July 31, as the city's Taste of SoMi program enters its second year with an expanded retail lineup.

The promotion launched Tuesday, July 1, and now features 22 retailers alongside 20 restaurants across the SoMi District. That's a shift from the program's inaugural run in July 2025, when restaurants anchored the event and retail followed a four-week themed structure. In 2026, each participating shop runs a single promotion all month long.

South Miami Mayor Javier Fernández said in the city's June 7 press release that the initiative "creates an opportunity for the community to come together, explore new experiences, and support the incredible local restaurants and retailers that help define our city."

What shoppers get

Restaurant prix-fixe tiers range from $15 to $20 for breakfast up to $45 to $65 for dinner. Quick-service spots offer 10 to 15 percent off. Retail promotions include storewide discounts, buy-one-get-one deals, free gifts with purchase, and exclusive July-only collections.

Dining participants include Amsterdam Falafel Shop, Bored Cuban, Cala Millor, Kitchen 57, Secreto, La Traila, Old Lisbon, Cecile's Bakery, Noe Sushi Bar, and Corteza, among others.

On the retail side, shoppers can find deals at Myra & Company, OOTD Boutique, Si Belle French Boutique, Island Girl Boutique, South Miami Jewelers, State of Kid, and Nautica Design Gallery, plus fitness studios Swolehug and Sweat440.

Who it's for

South Miami borders Coral Gables and Pinecrest, and its shopping district draws residents from both communities. The city designed the program to drive foot traffic during the summer slow season. Participant count grew from "over 30" businesses in 2025 to 42 in 2026, according to the city's official Instagram account and press release.

Taste of SoMi runs through Friday, July 31. No registration or pass is required. For a full list of participating businesses and their promotions, residents can contact the City of South Miami Community Affairs Division at 305-668-6330 or [email protected].
