Coral Gables residents can see Prime Video’s romantic thriller “Drawn Together” nearly two weeks before its global release, with bestselling author Mercedes Ron and the film’s lead actors appearing in person on Aragon Avenue.

Books & Books and the Coral Gables Art Cinema will host “An Evening at the Cinema with Mercedes Ron” on Thursday, Aug. 27, at 7:30 p.m. The $25 ticket, plus tax, includes admission to the advance screening and a deluxe signed copy of the English edition of Ron’s novel, published by Atria Books on Aug. 4, according to the cinema’s event page.

Ron, an Argentine-born author who lives in Seville, will appear in conversation with the film’s stars: Ester Expósito, known internationally for her role in Netflix’s “Élite,” and Hugo Diego García, whose recent credits include Coralie Fargeat’s “The Substance” alongside Demi Moore.

The film adapts “Marfil,” the first book in Ron’s “Enfrentados” duology, published in Spanish in 2019. It follows Marfil Cortés, the daughter of a powerful Spanish businessman whose life in New York is upended when she is kidnapped and mysteriously released. Her father assigns the guarded Sebastián Moore to protect her, and the two clash before growing closer as new threats emerge. The screening will be in Spanish with English subtitles.

“Drawn Together” premieres globally on Prime Video on Wednesday, Sept. 9, in more than 240 countries and territories. Prime Video released the official trailer Aug. 11. Director Óscar Pedraza, known for the television series “Patria,” helms the adaptation from a screenplay by Sofía Cuenca, who wrote the films “Your Fault” and “Our Fault,” adaptations of Ron’s “Culpables” trilogy.

Ron built her readership on Wattpad before Penguin Random House’s Montena imprint published her breakthrough novel “Culpa Mía” in Spain in 2017. Her “My Fault” trilogy has sold more than 6 million copies worldwide and spawned three Prime Video films from 2023 through 2025. A sequel adapting the second “Enfrentados” novel, “Drawn Apart,” has already been announced.

The pairing of Books & Books at 265 Aragon Ave. and the nonprofit Coral Gables Art Cinema at 260 Aragon Ave. puts the entire evening within a single block. Tickets are available through both venues.
