Buccan Sandwich Shop, the lunch counter from seven-time James Beard Award semifinalist Clay Conley, earned a "Best Sandwich" pick from the Coral Gables Gazette on Sept. 20. The shop opened at 100 Miracle Mile earlier this year and has quickly become a draw for downtown workers looking for a fast, chef-driven lunch.

The sandwich shop is part of a multi-concept space at the same address that includes the full-service Buccan restaurant. Coral Gables Mayor Vince Lago described the complex in a May 26 post on X as also featuring Imoto, a Japanese sushi bar, though Imoto's opening status has not been independently confirmed.

@vince_lago: "Welcome to the Gables! Congratulations to Buccan on the opening of their new location on Miracle Mile. Led by award-winning chef Clay Conley, the new location is a 3 in 1 concept featuring Imoto, an Asian-inspired sushi bar, Buccan Sandwich Shop and Buccan, a modern bistro!"

Conley built his reputation in Palm Beach, where he opened the original Buccan in 2011. Forbes has named it one of the best restaurants in Palm Beach, and the Palm Beaches tourism authority describes the sandwich shop as a "fast-casual concept" with existing locations on South County Road in Palm Beach and South Dixie Highway in West Palm Beach. Coral Gables is the brand's first location in Miami-Dade County.

The menu is compact. Rather than a sprawling deli board, it centers on made-to-order sandwiches built around specific ingredient pairings. The signature Beef Carpaccio sandwich layers thinly sliced raw beef with arugula, parmesan, crispy onions, balsamic onions, mayo and lemon vinaigrette on a crusty baguette.

The shop operates during the day with counter service, pickup and takeout. The full-service Buccan restaurant next door opens for dinner, with Time Out listing hours of 5–9:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5–10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Buccan's arrival fits a pattern of accelerating leasing activity on Miracle Mile. At the May 14 Mayor's Citizens Advisory Council meeting, Economic Development Director Belkys Perez said "the recent arrival of Buccan sandwich shop and restaurant to Miracle Mile will add foot traffic to the 100 block." Perez reported that more than 40,000 square feet of retail space had been leased downtown, with citywide retail vacancy at roughly 2%.

Terranova Corporation, the largest landlord on Miracle Mile, executed 17 new leases and one expansion totaling 96,791 square feet and more than $56 million in rent over five months beginning in November 2025, the Coral Gables Gazette reported. Terranova Chairman Stephen Bittel called Coral Gables "one of the few markets really driven by local patronage versus tourism."
