The Coral Gables Museum will host five days of free storytelling, art workshops and book readings in Spanish when Entrelibros returns for its fourth edition Oct. 14-18.

The festival, organized by Miami-based nonprofit Imago Por Las Artes in collaboration with the museum, brings together publishers from Spain and Latin America for programming aimed at children, young adults and families. Florida Humanities describes Entrelibros as South Florida's only free Spanish-language children's book festival.

The 2026 theme is the city. Organizers said on the festival website that the theme explores urban life as a place people inhabit and build together, not simply as a backdrop.

Storybook illustration exhibition runs through November

A centerpiece of the 2026 edition is Cuentos de Ciudad, an exhibition of classic and award-winning storybook illustrations from Spanish-language publishers across Latin America and Spain. The show opens Oct. 14 in the museum's Galeras, Pankey and Dream galleries and runs through Nov. 1, according to the Coral Gables Museum.

The exhibition includes a reading area with a selection of Spanish-language books and interactive activities for families.

Poetry sessions for educators, school visits for students

Entrelíneas, the festival's professional development track, is open to librarians, Spanish teachers, storytellers, authors and other specialists who work with children and books. The 2026 sessions focus on the role of poetry in children's literature, according to the museum's event page. The track includes workshops, panels and discussions.

A separate School Day program brings students into the museum for festival programming during the school week.

Free admission, funding and how to attend

Entrelibros 2026 is supported by the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County mayor and Board of County Commissioners, Florida Humanities with funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Jacarlene Foundation.

A fundraising event called Cata Musical, held Sept. 19 at the museum, featured a guided listening experience led by César Muñoz that explored the music of Juan Luis Guerra. Tickets started at $100, with proceeds benefiting the festival.

Entrelibros runs Wednesday, Oct. 14, through Sunday, Oct. 18, at the Coral Gables Museum, 285 Aragon Ave. Admission is free. The full daily schedule had not been published as of Sept. 24. Details are available at entrelibrosfest.org.

The Cuentos de Ciudad exhibition remains on view through Nov. 1.
