Drivers who use Granada Boulevard near SW 8th Street will need to find another way through starting Monday, Aug. 3.

Coral Gables Public Works will fully close a block of Granada Boulevard, from SW 8th Street to mid-block at 830 Granada Blvd., for a drainage improvement project expected to last about 70 days. That timeline puts the estimated completion around mid-October.

The closure applies only during work hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The road reopens each evening and on weekends.

The city posted the traffic advisory Wednesday, July 29, and shared it on its verified X account Thursday, July 30, giving residents a few days' notice before crews arrive. No contractor name or project cost has been released.

The project adds to an already active construction corridor near the intersection. The Underline Phase 3 Segment 6, which runs between LeJeune Road and Granada Boulevard, is also closed for construction through summer 2026, according to the city's construction and traffic alerts page. Residents heading south on Granada toward US-1 or north toward Miracle Mile should expect delays and heavier traffic on parallel streets for the duration of both projects.
