Left-hander Jessie Feast Jr., a top-25 national prospect from Fort Myers, committed to Miami baseball on Wednesday, Sept. 16.
The 6-foot-4, 210-pound sophomore at Bishop Verot High School is the Hurricanes' first verbal commitment in the 2028 recruiting class, according to Canes Warning, which reported Feast is ranked among the top 25 players nationally and No. 3 among Florida left-handers. Feast had already accepted an invite to the 2026 Future Games before making his pledge to Miami.
The commitment gives head coach J.D. Arteaga a high-ceiling arm as Miami builds on a 39-20 season in 2026, the program's best record in Arteaga's three years at the helm.
Feast's fastball sits at 89 mph, a mark Perfect Game places in the 99th percentile among 2028 arms. He pairs it with a mid-70s slider that features sweep and a changeup in the upper 70s to low 80s.
At Bishop Verot, Feast struck out 19 batters in 11 2/3 innings across six sophomore appearances, posting a 4.20 ERA for a Vikings squad that went 18-9 under coach Casey Scott.
The commitment caps a busy stretch for Arteaga's program. On Sept. 14, the university announced the addition of Danny Casals as director of player development and infielders coach. Casals spent the previous seven seasons at Christopher Columbus High School, where he worked with more than 10 future MLB Draft picks.
Arteaga has steadily improved Miami's win total each year: 27-30 in 2024, 35-27 in 2025, 39-20 in 2026. The Hurricanes reached the ACC Tournament semifinals and earned a regional berth before falling to Florida and Troy in the Gainesville Regional.
"It's just great signs of what our future looks like and how this team is coming together," Arteaga said in May after Miami's 11-2 ACC Tournament win over Stanford, as reported by The Miami Hurricane.
Miami has not reached Omaha since 2016. Feast would arrive on campus for the 2028-29 academic year.
