The eight-time Tony Award-winning musical "Hadestown" arrives on the big screen at Coral Gables Art Cinema on Friday, Aug. 14, giving local audiences a week to see five original Broadway cast members perform a show that has broken box-office records nationwide.

The 142-minute film reunites Reeve Carney as Orpheus, Eva Noblezada as Eurydice, Patrick Page as Hades, Amber Gray as Persephone and André De Shields as Hermes. De Shields won the Tony for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for the role. The five stars performed together in the 2019 Broadway premiere and reunited for a capture filmed in London's West End, supported by members of the show's London company.

Tickets Start at $8 for Members

"Broadway's coming to you, baby," Noblezada said in a July interview with Gold Derby, speaking about the film reaching audiences priced out of live theater. Tickets at the Aragon Avenue cinema start at just $8 for members, topping out at $12.75 for nonmembers, according to the Gables Gazette.

Written by singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and directed for the stage by Rachel Chavkin, "Hadestown" intertwines the myths of Orpheus and Eurydice with Hades and Persephone, set in an industrial underworld scored with American folk and New Orleans-inspired jazz. The production won eight Tonys in 2019, including Best Musical and Best Direction, from a field-leading 14 nominations. Its cast recording took the 2020 Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album.

Film Topped 'Hamilton's' Opening-Weekend Record

The film premiered at the 2026 Tribeca Festival before entering wide release through Crosswalk, a division of Bleecker Street. It opened July 24 to $10.2 million at nearly 2,000 screens, surpassing "Hamilton" for the highest opening weekend ever for a Broadway live capture. By its second weekend the cumulative gross reached $18.2 million, according to Deadline.

Producer Mara Isaacs told Axios on July 28 that the film's strongest markets were outside major theater cities, including Huntsville, Alabama, and Boise, Idaho. She said the film addresses barriers of geography and cost for audiences who haven't seen the show live.
